| Sailability Gold Coast is a
true community Organisation representing many sections
of our society. The principal aim of Sailability is to facilitate sailing
and Boating, in all forms, for people with disabilities.
The formation of Sailability Gold Coast , was the dream of Cathy Post,
which came true in 1998 when generous contributions from the Southport
Yacht Club Associates Committee and Gold Coast Care for the Children Fund
enabled the purchase of four access Dinghies. Since hen, Salability's
fleet has grown enormously thanks to the help of Government, service
clubs, private Enterprise and Individuals in our community., The Program encourages people to sail solo from day one, even people who have never sailed before. Access dinghies are stable and designed not to capsize. They are made of fibreglass and fitted with a heavily ballasted centerboard. They have a unique seating position and a joystick for easy maneuverability. The 2.3's have a single sail and the 303 has two. Sails on both types can be trimmed whilst on the water. They are an ideal learn to sail vessel suitable for all ages and sizes. |
