Red Shield Appeal

The Red Shield Appeal is The Salvation Army's annual fundraising drive and the national doorknock at the end of May is a major component. This year the Doorknock will take place over the weekend of May 28-29. Being part of the Annual Doorknock is an annual project of the club. It involves the provision of transport for the students of AB Patterson College 11 and 12 students in the northern area of the Gold Coast. Covering defined areas the door knock teams seek donations from the local residents

The first Red Shield Appeal Doorknock was held in 1965 in response to concern about the need for funds to meet the ever-increasing demand on Salvation Army social services. While the appeal has been expanded and refined enormously since that time, demand upon Salvation Army services continues to increase. Funds raised through the Red Shield Appeal each year are needed more than ever if the Salvos are to maintain their services in the local community.

.  Thanks to all Club Rotarians, and others, who acted as Drivers and supervisors of the students. The Salvation Army truly does appreciate the efforts of our Club in assisting in this worthwhile annual project
