Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Park Bushcare

The Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area was chosen as the basis for the club’s Centennial and Environmental Project.  Some 6 years later the Club in partnership with Gold Coast City Council, Natural Areas Unit, with community members have continued this project The area is recognised internationally as a significantly migratory bird location, forming part of the Moreton Bay Marine Park, a declared Fish Habitat Area and provides a rare opportunity to see the unique fauna and flora of the area. Entry to the project is via Rain Tree Glen, Coombabah. Whilst we continue planting today the group are also working at regeneration of selected areas within the Lakelands area.

The Coombabah Lakelands covers 778 hectares of regenerating forests, woodlands and wetlands. Gold Coast City Council adopted the Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Management Plan in September 1999. The Management Plan recognizing that the Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area has many values. The manage the area for conservation, cultural heritage, public utility, community use, nature-based recreation and educational use
